The second brand we visited was Ami, a contemporary menswear line. I have to say I really liked their collection, colourful, fun, stylish, well made. The sort of thing that I could see some of my friends from home wearing if they had, say, £800 to spend on a jacket.
It was really interesting to see how my each of my Lambert colleagues has to think about different things for the clients they are buying for. Ami had a collaboration with a swimwear designer but these would have been too short for the American market, the collection in general was quite heavy for a summer one and this poses problems for the market in Indonesia and the new concept store opening next month in Jarkata. It's all so much more complicated that us just waltzing in to a store, seeing a shirt we like and buying it. Before we can do that someone else had to buy it, and that person had to try and foresee that we were going to want to buy it.
P.S This collection is going to be in next summer so you haven't seen this yet.
On to the next showroom....
