Hybrid Project

We did a two week project just before Christmas and the whole idea was to take old clothes and regenerate these into new, high fashion garments, and then do a photoshoot which had a clear concept and which sold the clothes.

I chose to work with an old denim jacket, some knitwear, and a suede jacket. Bits and pieces either from home or found scouting the charity shops where I live. On their own I didn't have much to say about the pieces of clothing and i wouldn't have worn them but I was happy with how my garments turned out in the end.

This was my final photoshoot for the project:

I chose to develop the idea of literally disecting the garments and then piecing them back together in a different way. I think my interest lies in the structure of clothing, the shape it creates, as opposed to detail and texture. Therefore I chose to not really manipulate the fabric as much as to shape in and reconstruct it.

I wanted my photoshoot to have the same dissected and reconstructed look as I chose to play around with the idea of scale and focus to highlight the idea of the garment being altered from its original purpose and being given a new life.

What do you think?
